The Resonant Heart is a collective of international CALD and BIPOC women and female-identifying artists, who craft cross-cultural collaborations that weave their individual talents and traditions into an eclectic, multi-disciplinary fabric of music compositions, poetry, film and live performance.

This collection is their debut together, a kaleidoscope of original works crafted from individual voices, that together chart the journeys and ubiquitous intelligence of the heart. Opening with a universal prayer for humanity on ‘Mere Mola’, the narrative follows the heart who consults the ancestors on ‘Grandmother’, and falls madly in love on ‘Shah Sanaam’. It soon weeps, broken in sorrow during ‘Strepnja’, before its tears water the seeds of the “Sunflower” - the final chapter in the 5-track multi-lingual compilation.

This compilation is composed and performed by the Indian composer, vocalist and sitarist Sarita McHarg, Iranian musician Vahideh Eisaei, South Sudanese MC and poet Lizzy Kuoth, and the Balkan/Sephardic Jewish Trio SARAY Iluminado Femme that includes vocalist Nela Trifkovic and instrumentalists Irine Vela and Kelly Dowall, with dramaturgy by Elnaz Sheshgelani. It traverses traditional Bosnian, Sephardic, Indian and Iranian works that include songs, stories and poems in Nuer, Hindi, Bosnian, Serbian and Farsi.

'The Heart Whispers and Whirls’ presents a beautifully crafted experience that not only guides the audience through a profound and personal healing journey but also celebrates the performers’ femininity. It creates an inviting space for the audience to immerse themselves in moments of song, laughter, and tears, fostering a shared emotional connection and a sense of vulnerability within the performance.” - Dorcas Maphakela, Journalist/MC
