The Heart Whispers and Whirls was co-created in 2023 by the seven ‘HeArtists’ of the collective sharing from the prompt about celebrating the silent, yet undeniable knowledge of the heart.
In response to this, the HeArtists offered original compositions and traditional music and songs in Farsi, Hindi, Bosnian, Serbian, Nuer, English and Ladino, multi-lingual poetry, movement, dance and shadow-puppetry that shaped into a ritual-like performance. They have toured this body of work across Australia - from the Sydney Opera House to Dark Mofo (Hobart), Melbourne Immigration Museum, Riverside Theatre and BEMAC, Brisbane.
In 2025, TRH celebrated the release of their debut EP with Music in Exile, entitled The Heart Whispers and Whirls, and an accompanying short film of the same name, directed by Olive Moynihan.
This work is still available for touring and can be presented in a variety of formats to include: a stand-alone performance of the show, a performance followed by a Q&A with the artists and also a performance, Q&A and a variety of different workshops for community engagement.

In 2025, TRH celebrated the release of their debut EP: The Heart Whispers and Whirls, with Music in Exile:
“It is the journey of the heart - there is a dramatic arch to the order of the pieces - to set on the journey the heart offers a universal prayer for humanity (Mere Mola), then consults the ancestors about its choices (Grandmother) of course at some point the heart falls in love, madly and opulently (Shah Sanaam) and, as is always the case, at some point the heart is broken yet not destroyed but spends time weeping (Strepnja) and it's cries water the seeds that create the Sunflower - the final piece.”
- Nela Trifković
